Hot Girl Summer had its time to shine, and now we’re embarking on a new kind of summer — Carrie Bradshaw Summer.

Now, this is a very specific kind of Carrie Bradshaw summer, namely NOT movie Carrie, or even late-season Carrie. More of a seasons 1–4ish Carrie.

The kind of minimalistic 90s style, with a certain flair for sexual appeal (think: the naked dress).

Starting off we have the iconic gray dress with Ray-Bans. This is the seminal Carrie Look. It’s simple, yet impactful. Of course the simplicity is enhanced by her long curly hair and toned body; but this look could work on anyone.

The accessories make it: the classic sunglasses, the nude heels, and the vintage Gucci bag. You can take this formula and wear it a million different ways. But something about the cut of the dress, and that exact shade of gray, makes it special.

Next we have this frilly pink dress that she wears in the scene where she falls into the lake in Central Park (classic Carrie!).

The early-2000's-ness of this dress makes it perfect to bring into today, while we’re having a Y2K resurgence.

An updated version would be the Fanci Club dress that everyone was wearing/imitating.

Rounding this out with another dress. A white dress is a classic summer staple. But I love this elevated version in silk. And the wide straps and scoop neck is perfection. Paired with clear heels and wavy hair makes for the ultimate warm weather look.

Everything about this look is perfection. The tube top, the arm scarf, the pulled back hair. (I don’t personally like the pendant, but they are a huge trend right now).

Accessorize with an iMac and a Starbucks cup to be quintessentially Carrie.

This is a CONTROVERSIAL look, but if you break it down, it’s not so bad.

The cowboy hat is a bold choice, but forgoing that, the combination of a bandeau top, skirt, and arm scarf can make for a versatile summer outfit.

Carrie wears this when she loses Aidan’s dog (classic Carrie!). Something about the juxtaposition of the red heels with the athletic shorts makes it casually cool.

Instead of a high stiletto, go for another Carrie classic — the Dr. Scholl’s sandal.

There are so many more summer Carrie looks — board shorts with a bikini top, sunglasses with a head scarf, and of course, the newspaper dress.

So find yourself a boyfriend that makes furniture and have a Carrie Bradshaw Summer.
